Entrance to the house is on the upper level, which quickly transitions to the tree canopy as the topography drops. The back overlooks Crabtree Creek, just outside downtown Raleigh. Geothermal exchange, pre-fab insulated roofing panels, 2 x 6 exterior framed walls, reflective roof, and quality windows work to reduce energy use. The simple gable form and exposed structural details echo the vernacular of rural covered bridge design, earning the moniker "The Bridge House".
