This home in Concord Massachusetts was designed with a focus on energy efficiency, natural materials, and family gatherings. With a HERS rating of 47, the house uses 50% of the energy of a code-designed house of equal size. A geothermal well, superior insulation, low energy fixtures, and proper orientation contribute to the efficiency. Saving the deciduous maple trees at the back terrace was not easy, but was key to adding comfort and beauty to the outdoor space throughout the year.
